Preston Lacemakers are a friendly group of people who meet to share their enthusiasm and enjoyment in the art and craft of lace, in all its variations. Our group includes young and old and beginners to experienced. Throughout the year we have talks about and workshops in both lace and other craft techniques. We also promote lace through exhibitions and giving demonstrations.

Throughout the year we have workshops in both lace and other craft techniques.

Forthcoming workshops:

5 January 2019   Needlace Workshop with Carol Fenlon

The workshop aims to teach the basic preparation, working and finishing techniques appropriate to making needlelace.

Participants will learn:
1   How to prepare and mount the base design and outline the cordonnet prior to beginning the lace.
2   Three frequently used lace stitches, contrasting close stitches with open ones.
3   How to complete the lace by finishing the edges with the cordonnet.

Participants will make an Easter Card.  The kit will cost £3 and contain all the materials needed to produce the card.  Additionally participants will need to bring a basic sewing kit including small scissors, sharp needles and tacking cotton.

6 April 2019  Needle Tatting Workshop with Helen Wilkins

Tatting needles can be purchased from Helen on the day.  Bring scissors and, if you have some, size 10 crochet cotton.  Helen will have some size 10 crochet cotton with her on the day for practice if not.  Helen will provide handouts and patterns.
