Next Meeting 7 January 2012

Our next meeting will be on Saturday 7 January 2012 - yes 2012!! - where did 2011 go?!!.  This will be an open meeting, giving you the opportunity to make progress on your own projects.  New people, as always, are welcome.  It is £1 to visit (for up to 3 meetings) or £10 per annum to join.  Remember, members, that this is your last opportunity to let the secretary know of any items you wish to add to the agenda for the AGM, which will be held on 3 March 2012.  We would also appreciate volunteers for various posts for 2012/13.  A list will be available at the January meeting.  We look forward to seeing everyone in the New Year.

Great Christmas Party

Thanks to everyone who came to the Christmas Party last Saturday.  We had great food, lots of chatting and laughing and some challenging Christmas quizzes - I didn't know that the carol 'The Twelve Days of Christmas' was symbolic!! .  Everyone went home with a gift from Secret Santa and a Christmas card and present from Preston Lacemakers.  Hope everyone has a great Christmas.

Christmas Party 3 December 2011

We shall be holding our Christmas Party on 3 December.  Remember to bring cutlery, crockery, a contribution to the Jacob's  Join and a gift to the value of £3.00.  It's a 'reet good do' so come along.  If you are not a member yet, please contact pestonlacemakers@yahoo.com first.

Next Meeting 5 November 2011

Our next meeting takes place at Penwortham United Reformed Church Hall on 5 November.  This will be an Open Meeting for members to bring their own lace.  If you are interested in making lace, we would love to see you, so come along.

Lacing Snakes - Harris Museum 27 Oct 2011

Are you between 7 and 12 years of age and would like to make a lace snake?

Members of Preston Lacemakers will be helping children to make snakes in Lace at the 'Lacing Snakes' event for children aged from 7 - 12 years old.  The event will be held at the Harris Museum in Preston on Thursday afternoon, 27 October, from 1.30 to 3.30.  Booking is essential, please phone the museum on 01772 905414 if you are interested.  You can find out more about the Harris Museum by clicking here.

Preston Arts Festival to 16 October

If you have not been already, why not pop into the Minster of St John in Church Street Preston and see the exhibition, part of Preston Arts Festival.  The exhibition includes embroidery, photography and art in addition to Lace.  You may even get the opportunity to have a go at making lace.  Refreshments are available.  You can find more information at www.prestonarts.com/Festival.htm.

Great Northern Quilt Show - First Prize for Group Quilt

Next Meeting 1October 2011

Wow - these months fly by.  Our next meeting is already upon us - Saturday 1 October.  Ann Russell will be leading a workshop showing members how to create an embroidered picture.  The details can be found by clicking on workshops in the list to the right of this post.

There will still be a number of us making lace and we would be delighted to see anyone interested in joining us at any time during the day.

Next Meeting Textile Open Day 3 September 2011

The next meeting on Saturday 3 September is our Textile Open Day.  See the post on 6 June below for further details - everyone welcome.

Next Meeting Saturday 6 August

Our next meeting will be held on Saturday 6 August when members will be able to paint bobbins with Jacqui Southworth.  If you wish to paint a bobbin, make sure you can start at 10:30 so that your bobbin will be ready before you leave.  Not all members will be painting bobbins so, if you are interested in joining us, do come along.

Great Northern Quilt Show - Group Quilt Entered

Preston Lacemakers have made a beautiful quilt to celebrate their 25th Anniversary.  This quilt has been entered in the Great Northern Quilt Show to be held in Exhibition Hall 1 at the Great Yorkshire Showground in Harrogate from Friday 2 September to Sunday 4 September.  More information can be found here.

Preston Arts Festival Oct 2 to Oct 16 2011

Preston Arts Association are holding Preston Arts Festival in Preston St John's Minster from 2 to 16 Oct 2011.  Preston Lacemakers will have an exhibition of lace and, on occasions, will be demonstrating lace.  Why not join us.  You can go to Preston Arts Association website, where more information will be available in due course, by clicking here.

Textile Open Day - everyone welcome - entry free

Why not join us for our Textile Open Day on 3 September 2011.  Drop in any time between 11 am and 3 pm at the United Reformed Church Hall in Penwortham.  Entry is free and cofee and tea will be available.  Look and try needlelace, appliqued lace, crochet, tatting, ruskin lace, tambour, bobbin lace, knitting and more.  If you are a child, could you please bring an adult with you.
