Preston Lacemakers are a friendly group of people who meet to share their enthusiasm and enjoyment in the art and craft of lace, in all its variations. Our group includes young and old and beginners to experienced. Throughout the year we have talks about and workshops in both lace and other craft techniques. We also promote lace through exhibitions and giving demonstrations.

Next Meeting: 3 January 2015

Thank you to all for an enjoyable Christmas Party.  Once again the food was delicious and we had great fun playing the games.

Our next meeting is an open meeting on Saturday 3 January, very soon after the New Year.  The secretary will be taking motions for the AGM and nominations for the committee and other posts within Preston Lacemakers.  This will be your last chance to put any motions to the AGM but the open meeting afterwards will consider any other business on the day.

Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and that you have a happy, peaceful and healthy New Year.

Thanks to all those members who displayed their favourite pieces at our last meeting.  What a lovely range of lacemaking styles and innovative uses of lace!

Members are encouraged to contribute to our next members' display at the meeting on 3 May.  The theme for this display is my first/early piece and my current/recent piece of lace.  We shall also be holding the 10% stall, so if you have anything you want to buy, or anything to sell, remember to have a look or bring your items.  Ann also announced at the April meeting that Jacqui Southworth will be attending the May meeting, so if you are considering purchasing any lace supplies, you could contact Jacqui before the meeting and see if she can bring them along.

If anyone is interested in making lace, please come along as a visitor.  We have a teacher who is happy to help any beginners.

October 2014 Meeting - change of date

Penwortham United Reformed Church, where we meet, has been asked to host the first Penwortham Autumn Show on 4 October 2014, which is the first Saturday in October and, therefore, the day we would normally hold our meeting.  We have, consequently, postponed our October meeting to the second Saturday, 11 October.  The church and the committee are sorry for any inconvenience and would be grateful if you would amend the date in your diaries.  It sounds like there will be a class or classes suitable for lace and other handicrafts, if any members wish to participate in the Autumn Show.

Meeting 1 February 2014

Ann will be running her popular Tambour Lace workshop at this meeting for those who wish to participate.  Please bring along your normal tambour equipment and some beads.  For those who are not learning tambour, we shall have our normal meetings where you will be able to make your own lace, chat to friends and get ideas and advice on current and new projects.  If you are interested in learning a new skill or sharing your current lacemaking skills, come along and meet us.
